Cosmetic Dentistry CostWhen looking for a cosmetic dentist, there are a couple factors that must be considered. The cost of cosmetic dentistry procedures, although an important aspect of the treatment, should never be the deciding factor as to where you receive treatment. Shopping around for the cheapest dentist may result in a regrettable experience. When looking into cosmetic dentistry you must keep in mind that quality of treatment is the most important. Find a cosmetic dentist that you are comfortable with, fits your budget and produces ideal results, rather than just searching for the cheapest cosmetic dentist. Prices do vary from dentist to dentist based on experience, location, insurance, materials used, extent of procedure etc. However, we have provided a series of price guidelines for some of the most common procedures to help you better understand the range of cost and what you should expect.

If you should come across a dentist whose prices are significantly lower than the guidelines we have provided, there may be reason to doubt the services provided. Dentistry procedures will differ in costs to some degree as there are several influential factors, but if you come across prices that are off the map of this spectrum, you may want to do a little research. The reason why procedures fall into such a price range is because it’s quite difficult to provide the proper results, using the materials necessary, equipment, lab fees etc. for costs much lower than indicated here.

On the hand, never automatically assume that the higher the cost the better the procedure. Just because a cosmetic dentist charges the most for a particular procedure, does not necessary mean that it is your best option. As we mentioned earlier, there are several influential factors that must be discussed with you by your dentist such as materials, lab work, equipment, complexity of treatment etc. This particular article is designed to help you better understand the costs of cosmetic dentistry and where prices should range from for each procedure.

Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure Cost:

Dental Veneers: Porcelain veneers are most costly than veneers made from composite resin. Porcelain veneers range in cost from $925 to $2,500 per tooth and can last up to 15 years. Composite veneers may range anywhere from $250 to $1500 per tooth and can last up to seven years.

Dental Crowns: The cost for all-porcelain dental crowns will cost anywhere from $950 to $2,200 per crown. Dental crowns may also be made from porcelain-fused-to-metal or gold. The materials used in the construction of your dental crown will influence the cost of the procedure; all porcelain crowns being the most expensive.

Composite Fillings: The cost for composite (tooth colored) fillings is determined by the number of surfaces within the tooth that are treated by the filling. A filling covering one surface of the tooth will range from $150 to $250. A filling treating two surfaces of the tooth will cost $250 to $400. A tooth requiring three surfaces to be treated by a filling will cost $250 to $500. Composite fillings require additional equipment and a lengthier procedure than traditional amalgam fillings which makes them more expensive.

Dental Bonding: Teeth that are cracked, chipped or uneven may be esthetically improved with dental composite bonding.  Dental composite is a tooth colored resin that is used to restore the edges and contours of the teeth for a better esthetic appearance. The cost for composite bonding restoration ranges from $300 to $1600. The reason for such a wide gap in price range is due to the fact that this particular procedure is very much in the hands of the skilled cosmetic dentist. There is a great deal of artistry and skill involved as well as the time needed to ideally esthetically restore the teeth.

Invisalign: Invisible braces is a series of clear plastic aligners that are used to ideally improve the positioning of teeth and  can cost anywhere from $5000 to $7,700 to complete a case of treatment.

Cosmetic Dentistry Considerations:

Dental insurance may provide partial coverage for some cosmetic procedures such as dental crowns, fillings etc. that are also categorized into general dentistry. The extra costs associated with esthetic appearance will likely not be covered, as your insurance will distribute coverage based on a functionality standpoint.
