Family Dentist Toronto - Dental Care for Family

family dentist, family with nice teeth.

Family Dentistry: Providing Dental Care for the Whole Family

Y our intial consultation with your Toronto dentist is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the practice and get comfortable with your surroundings. You will become familiar with our talented and friendly staff in addition to your one on one discussion with your dentist. There you will be able to express your likes and dislikes regarding your smile. Your dentist will then be able to evaluate your case, and establish a treatment plan to achieve the best results possible to give you the smile you always wanted!

What is Family Dentistry

Family dentistry is similar to the practice of general dentistry with some minor exceptions. Both practices deal with tooth health and oral hygiene and are often used interchangeably.  Family dentists are known to accept patients of all ages making any office providing such services an ideal choice for patients with children.  Family dentists will provide care for you children’s baby teeth as well as your adult teeth.

Patients are welcome to meet the dentist and visit the office before making their first appointment as it is important that you and your children are comfortable with the dentist and the dental environment.  Visiting the dentist as a child may be daunting at first but here at your Toronto dentist we wish to ensure that every visit is a comfortable and successful one.

By treating patients of all ages, your ‘ family dentist allows patients to book family appointments. This way your family can be treated in the same day, meaning fewer appointments necessary and making it easier to fit oral hygiene into your busy schedule. Dental hygiene is important, and by booking family appointments you not only save time, and transportation, it also makes trips to the dentist easier which ultimately ensures that your family will maintain great oral health. Your dental health is our top priority. Regular appointments can ensure preventative care rather than treating dental issues that have already evolved.

Services:

Family dentistry provides regular cleanings, fluoride treatments, and other such basic dental work that may be necessary to maintain your family’s oral health. Patients should schedule regular check-ups to hinder the development of more serious dental problems such as cavities, root canals, and gum disease. With regular check-ups, your Toronto family dentist can take the X-rays necessary to check for developing cavities so that they may be treated as quickly as possible. Below we have listed some of the services provided in family dentistry. Services offered include, but are not limited to:

By scheduling regular appointments for preventative dental care, you may never need treatment for additional dental procedures. Keep your smile healthy with regular cleanings and maintain your smile’s radiance with tooth whitening and we guarantee your smile will light up any room. Your Toronto family dentist will provide you and your family with tips for brushing, flossing and rinsing to help prevent the development of tooth decay and plaque between your visits. Family dentistry can take the stress out of appointments and help you and your family stay on track with a healthy oral hygiene schedule.

Both the American and Canadian Dental Association (ADA/CDA) recommend patients visit their family dentist at least twice a year. These check-ups will provide routine cleaning to help prevent the development of tooth decay and plaque. Fluoride treatments are also available to coat the teeth to further aid the prevention of tooth decay. Routine visits to your family dentist allow the early detection of any potential oral health problems. These issues can then be addressed with minor fillings before they evolve into more serious health complications requiring the services of a bridge, crown, implant, root canal etc.

Family and Cosmetic Dentistry

Since family dentists treat a wide array of patients, many practices include some cosmetic services in addition to restorative dentistry such as teeth whitening and dental veneers. Dental bonding is also often used to esthetically improve tooth size, shape, and smooth rough or uneven edges of your teeth. Bonding can also be used to restore cracks and chips in the teeth to ensure your smile stays at its best.

"My goal is to provide you with such a positive experience that you can't help but tell others about us. Our ★★★★★ Reviews Say it All"

Dr. Taimish & Associates

Your initial consultation with me is a great opportunity for you to learn more about Norton Dental - North York & my friendly staff. You will be able to discuss with me, Dr. Taimish & Associates, your likes and dislikes regarding your smile. I will establish a treatment plan to give you the smile you always wanted. Call (416) 225-4446 to book an appointment!

I, Dr. Taimish & Associates, put the emphasis on preventative dentistry which is why regular checkups and maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial in preventing more serious dental problems from developing. The Canadian Dental Association (CDA), advises that visits should be made to your dentist at least once every six months. These regular visits ensure proper hygiene and functionality by taking steps necessary to prevent costly treatment required for more serious problems concerning oral hygiene.

In order to diagnose and treat any problems as early as possible, I will customize a dental hygiene plan best suited for you, which includes: A dental exam, scaling if necessary and dental X-ray(s). In the event that I, Dr. Taimish & Associates, discover tooth decay or disease within your mouth, gums and/or tongue, I may choose to incorporate a variety of restorative dental procedures to prevent or repair effects of tooth decay, trauma and disease within your treatment plan.

I, Dr. Taimish & Associates, am your primary defense against preventing and detecting problems concerning your oral health. However, my services do not end with preventative and restorative treatment; my services include cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, teeth whitening, inivisalign, dental emergency treatment as well as many other dentistry care options. Should you require additional treatment that is not provided by me, you will be referred to a specialist who can best take care of your specific needs.

"I am dedicated to guiding you towards achieving optimal oral health that can be maintained for a lifetime."

Dental Examination:

Your examination will be conducted by me your Toronto dentist with the use of instruments, radiographs, tests paired with clinical knowledge to diagnose any future or existing disease and pathologies. Your individual plan is then devised to prevent and/or treat any oral hygiene problems detected. Patients who are interested in cosmetic dentistry will be able to identify and establish esthetic goals provided by me.

General Dentist Procedure:

Dental Fillings: Treatment providing restoration to existing structural tooth damage which may be caused by tooth decay, trauma or wear and tear. The damaged tooth structure is removed and the tooth is then restored with a filling material such as amalgam, gold, composite resin (tooth colored filling material), or porcelain. Every filling material comes with its own advantages and disadvantages which your dentist may then explain to help you determine which option is best suited for you

Dental Bonding: This process is used to adhere materials such as composite resin to the tooth’s surface for restorative purposes. In cases of cracked or chipped teeth, a composite reslembling the tooth’s enamel is applied to the surface of the tooth, esthetically sculpted, contoured and then polished making any imperfections virtually invisible.

Orthodontics: Both a functional and cosmetic treatment, orthodontics is a strategy used to straighten and correct deep bites or misaligned teeth with dental braces and retainers.

Root Canal: A treatment involving the removal of pulp tissue within the tooth’s roots that has become infected. To prevent further infection, the empty spaces where the pulp once existed is then filled with anti-bacterial filling and topped with a crown for protection. Dentists who specialize in root canals are known as endodontists. However, general dentists often perform this restorative procedure.

Dental Crown: The process used to restore severely decayed or damaged teeth may be comprised of gold materials, metal, porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. Ask your dentist if the crown procedure is available in office, if not you will likely be referred to a specialist.

Dental Bridge: A treatment used to replace missing teeth with artificial restorations known as pontics. The pontic is kept in place with composite material that is permanently fixed to the surrounding teeth.

Dentures: Prosthetic devices designed to replace missing or damaged teeth which cannot be otherwise restored. Conventional dentures are removable, yet there are many different designs some of which utilize bonding whereas others simply clasp onto teeth or are implanted by your dentist.

Periodontal (Gum Disease) and Treatment: Our mouths are full of bacteria which combine with mucus and other particles to form colorless and sticky plaque on our teeth. When brushing and flossing is not done regularly, plaque builds up and hardens on the teeth forming tartar which can only be removed by your dentist. Early treatment for periodontal disease may include a combination tooth cleaning, and scaling every three months to remove sub-gingival calculus (tartar) along with the use of medicated mouthwash such as Peridex and regular flossing. In later stages, treatment may require deep plane scaling or even periodontal and laser surgery.

Laser Procedures: Laser dentistry can be used as an alternative to drilling teeth and procedures requiring more invasive equipment. Dental lasers are sometimes used in bonding teeth, the removal of tooth decay, as an alternative to scaling, tooth whitening, and even periodontal surgery.  Specialized treatment is always a factor in treating infant patients, young children, elderly or special needs.

Cosmetic Dentist Procedure:

Utilizing top technology and the best resources available, the use of lasers have safely been integrated into cosmetic dentistry. The lasers may be used in gum contouring without the need of referrals to specialists and also signficantly reduce recovery time. With the help of Norton Dental - North York and state of the art cosmetic treatments, we will glady customize a plan to ensure you a beautiful radiant smile that is affordable too. The advancement in technology has allowed for more conservative cosmetic dentistry techniques to preserve as much of the natural tooth structure as possible in each case.

Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment:

There are several procedures that may be provided by cosmetic dentistry here are some options you may find helpful:

Inlays Onlays: Tooth-colored fillings made of porcelain or composite materials that are durable and unnoticeable. These esthetic resotrations are created in a dental laboratory before being bonded into place by your dentist whereas traditional fillings are molded into the tooth during the dental visit.

Composite Bonding: Esthetic tooth restorations used to repair chipped, broken, discolored or decayed teeth in addition to restoring the appearance of the tooth structure. Composite bonding affords patients a flawless appearance with the look of tooth enamel that is both affordable and long lasting.

Teeth Whitening: Top quality whitening products available such as Zoom Whitening are used to safely bleach some of the toughest stains without damaging the enamel for a healthy radiant smile.

Dental Veneers: What are porcelain veneers and what is the cost of veneers? Porcelain veneers are customized laminate shells that are safely bonded to your teeth to restore the appearance of unwanted spacing, worn down teeth, chips/cracks and severe tooth discoloration. The cost of dental porcelain veneers at Norton Dental - North York - $950 Per Veneer

Dental Implants: What are dental implants and what are the cost of dental implants? Dental implants are restorations for missing teeth which allow patients to smile, talk and chew comfortably. The implant is comprised of a small titanium screw and a dental crown to give a natural esthetic appearance. The cost of dental implants at Norton Dental - North York - $1500

Smile MakeoverA detailed evaluation of your teeth will allow your dentist to best improve your oral appearance to give you the smile of your dreams. Treatment involves one or more of the following cosmetic dentistry procedures such as porcelain veneers, implants, gingivectomy, and/or whitening in order to award the best results for each patient.
